About the NITA Awards

The Nita Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in music, television, and the arts. Named in honor of Anita Elizabeth Johnson—known professionally as Nita J—and inspired by the legendary George Clinton, these awards recognize and promote exceptional talent and creativity across these dynamic fields.

Anita, who passed away on December 5, 2021, collaborated with iconic artists such as George Clinton and The Winans. She was deeply committed to supporting fellow artists in realizing their dreams and making a lasting impact on the creative community.
